Did anyone not theme their nursery?
I’m starting to wonder if I’m in the vast majority of new mommas when we didn’t theme or nursery. We didn’t buy any matching furniture sets for the nursery (or any actual furniture period), didn’t get a cute bedding set, didn’t put decorations all over the walls, and didn’t, well, theme and decorate the nursery. Am I alone in this?
The way we figured, our baby wasn’t going to care if we had his name written on the wall or if we had matching decorations, sheets, blankets, and if his crib matched his dresser which matched the rocker which matched the changing table. We used a pack-n-play bassinet for a few months before getting a crib, had a wicker chest to hold extra blankets and such, and small Tupperware containers to hold clothes.
Did anyone else not decorate their ‘nursery’?
We were renting a house at the time my daughter was born and her room already happened to be pink. Then, my sister sent me a collection of Winnie the Pooh and friends stuffed animals, so when I saw Winnie the Pooh crib bedding on CraigsList, I thought that would be perfect. So that was my ‘theme.’ We bought all of her furniture used and my husband painted it all to match.
We did it on the cheap, but it was fun making it all come together.
Since we’ve moved, her current room has no theme. It will be fun to do a theme again when she can pick out what she wants…. : )
